Double Ball Release

Double ball release is great too tight upper back between the scapulas. Using two balls place them on either side of the spine between the scapulas, while laying on the back.  From there reach the arms towards the ceiling and give oneself a big hug, going back and forth. For extra pressure, lift the hips off the ground.

Double Ball Release

How to perform:

Double Ball Release

For those that get great relief from the trap vise method but feel like the tightest is a bit lower on the upper back, the double ball release is fantastic for that. The muscles that the double ball release methods get are those lower traps and rhomboids. It is a pin and stretch type of release, as the muscle gets pinned and take the body through a range of motion to stretch the muscle while it is trapped.

To set up the release for this start by grabbing two accumboility balls, lacrosse, or tennis balls. Place them on the ground right next to one another touching. The space between the balls is where the spine is going to rest. Pressure on the spine is a big NO from us. The location of the balls can be placed anywhere between the top of the scapulas or traps and the bottom of the scapulas. Any place between those two spots right on the muscle is fair game for the balls to be placed. Once laid on top of the balls start by lifting the hips off the ground to apply more pressure on the spot if tolerable. From there reach the hands towards the ceiling and cross the arms over one another giving a big hug to yourself. Repeat until some release is noticed. Another movement that can be done is the snow angel movement starting by the legs and going all the way over head. Once the release is noticed, move the balls into a different spot until all tight spots have been hit.

Protocol:

Take 60 seconds on each spot or until release is noticed
